Who can play?
Any child ages 4 to 12 years of age.
Can my child play if he has never played baseball before?
Yes. Fall Ball is designed to help players that have never played before by giving them more instruction time in a relaxed atmosphere.
How is the player’s age determined?
A player’s age for a given season is their age on April 30 of the following year. We play in the Fall and we want to know how old will your player be next April 30. The intent is for players to play in the league level they are age appropriate for the following Spring.
Example: Your child is 6 during the Fall but will turn 7 by April 30 the following Spring, he/she will play Coach Pitch in Fallball.
Example: Your child is 10 during the Fall but will turn 11 by April 30 the following Spring, he/she will play Majors in Fallball.
What are the different age divisions?
T-ball ages 5 to 6 (on April 30 of the following Spring)
Coach Pitch ages 7 to 8 (on April 30 the following Spring)
Minors ages 9 to 10 (on April 30 the following Spring)
Majors ages 11 to 12 (on April 30 the following Spring)
When does the season begin?
The season begins late July or early August.
When does the season end?
The season ends by the end of October.
How frequent are practices?
Practices are generally once a week.
How frequent are games?
Games will be once or twice a week.
What equipment are players required to have?
Players are required to provide their own glove, bat, cleats and a protective cup is required for all male players.
They will be provided with helmets with chin straps, catcher’s gear and baseballs. Players are welcome to provide their own helmets, but they must include a chin strap.
How do parents receive communications?
Communications will be sent by email or text from the Fall Ball Commissioner, Assistant Fall Ball Commissioner, Coaches and/or Team Parent. Updates will also be on the GYAA website and GYAA Facebook page.
How do I know if games are canceled by weather?
Goochland Parks and Rec operates our baseball fields. They are the sole determinant for field closures. Parks and Rec uses a text/email system to provide updates on field closures. You can sign up for field closure updates (for any sport or season) by going to Rainedout.com and searching “Goochland” and then you will see Goochland Parks and Rec where you can complete the sign up process.
