To enhance, develop and nurture the core values of responsibility, hard work, sportsmanship and teamwork within a safe and positive atmosphere.  To establish growth amongst our children, as well as our community, through discipline, competitiveness and fair play.  These goals will be accomplished by allowing and providing structured communication designed to educate both participants and parents in all aspects in the sport of football, with highest standards, while providing a fun and positive experience for all.

Who can play?

Age 5-13 years old.  Rookies must be age 5 before July 31. 

What are the different age divisions?

ROOKIE Ages 5 & 6

FRESHMAN Ages 7 & 8

SOPHOMORE Ages 9 & 10

JUNIORS Ages 11 & 12 (no weight limit)

SENIORS Ages  12 & 13 (no weight limit)

How much does it cost to play?

2020:  $160.00

What’s provided with the cost?

Goochland will provide helmets and game uniform.  Parents will be responsible for practice pants, cleats, shoulder pads and mouth piece.  Equipment will be handed out before the first day of practice.  Goochland will not be issuing out shoulder pads for this 2020 season.

What documents are required by players?

All players are required to have either a valid non-expired DMV ID card or non-expired passport.

When does practice start?

Practices begin on August 3rd.

What are the days and time for practice?

Before school starts practices, are from 6 pm – 8 pm Monday through Friday and Saturdays if needed.  Once school starts, practices are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6 pm – 8 pm.  Flag age division will typically end at 7:30 pm.

When and where are games played?

All home games are played at Goochland Sports Complex field (old high school) and away games depends on our schedule but mostly in the Henrico area.  More information will be available when schedules are released by River City Youth Football League.

How are coaches selected?

All coaches are approved by the GYAA board and must go through a background check.

What are the requirements to coach?

All coaches must complete the USA Football Coaching Education Program and be certified in “Heads Up Football.”

How do parents receive communications?

Communications will be sent by text or email from football commissioners, coaches, team mom, or GYAA communication director.  Also critical updates will also be posted on GYAA website & Facebook page.
